One hundred fifty-seven 2- to 17-year-old children
were included in the analysis. Slightly more than half
(n = 87, 55.4%) of the children were girls and were
Black (n = 111, 70.7%). Other children were White
(n = 21, 13.4%), biracial (n = 21) and Hispanic (n = 4).
Slightly more than half of the children (50.3%) had den-
tal caries. Other demographic information can be found
in Table 1. Similar percentages of children who were
obese were found in children from different racial back-
grounds (Table 2). More than half of the children were
overweight (19.7%) or obese (30.6%).
