The inhibition of the mycelial growth of R. solani by the B. megaterium microcapsules was tested after storing the product at room temperature (28 ± 2 C) for 12 months. A 0.001 % w/v suspension of bacterial microcapsules was prepared in sterile distilled water. This suspension (1 ml) was mixed with a melted potato dextrose agar (PDA) at 1:10 (v/v) in Petri dishes (9.0 cm diameter). An agar block of R. solani culture was then placed onto the PDA incorporated with the microcapsules for testing the inhibition of mycelial growth of R. solani. A culture of R. solani on PDA incorporated with sterile water was used as a control, with each treatment consisting of six replications. Mycelial inhibition of R. solani was assessed as % mycelial inhibition 36 h after culturing R. solani (Eq. 1) (Gamliel et al.1989).
