One of the important problems the coaches
mentioned during the communication
process is the language problem. This
problem has arisen because the Greek
professional basketball teams and other
football teams, according to FIBA and FIFA
regulations, are allowed to have many foreign
players and many Bosman (European) players. The Greek professional basketball
teams are composed of four categories of
athletes in respect of their nationality:
(1) Greeks;
(2) naturalised;
(3) foreigners; and
(4) Europeans.
Variety as far as the basketball players' origins
is concerned justified language as the second
important communicational problem as the
coaches declared. Out of a total of 165
basketball players during the games season
1998, 60.6 per cent (100) were Greek, 15.76
per cent (26) were foreigners, 13.94 per cent
(23) were community players and finally 9.7
per cent (16) were homogeneous.

the Greek professional basketball teams.
