The PVS–SU method developed here led to a relatively
high rate of AI success (4/7; 57%). Four females (I018h,
I017h, I3153, and SIH013h) conceived successfully by AI. In
addition, even the hand-reared male (X013) impregnated afemale (I018h) by AI. Three females delivered full term. The
mean (147 2.6 days) gestation length of the three normal
pregnancies was comparable to that for natural mating
(144 2 days) [26]. However, one female resorbed fetus(es)
after approximately 60 days of gestation. The reason why
the pregnancy was lost is unknown; however, marmosets
commonly suffer death in utero with subsequent reabsorption
of the fetuses [27,28]. A previous study on a large
breeding marmoset colony indicated greater than 50%
pregnancy loss [27
