Dear Colleagues,
Congratulations to all Thailand teams for delivering great safety performance in August! I thank everyone for demonstrating OE leadership and operational disciplines at all levels that enabled us to reverse the incident trend and complete the month without any serious injuries and/or severe process safety incidents. It was also great to see John Watson, our CEO, recognizing Thailand’s strong base business performance in his monthly message. This clearly indicates that our well factory efficiency and reliability programs are paying off and we must sustain our efforts and effectiveness in these business-critical areas.
The four recordable injuries (3 RWC and 1 MTC) last month, however, still remind us to maintain our sense of vulnerability in every task and to ensure our key safeguards are in place, effective and functioning. Effective pre-job planning, pre-job hazard assessment and following safe work procedures are crucial steps in reducing the frequency of serious incidents. The field supervisors’ engagements with the workforce are the key to success in these crucial steps.
Last month, the Thailand management team and I had the opportunity to participate in the 2014 OE clip board at Songkhla Logistics Base, where strong participation by Chevron workgroups and our business partners were observed. I was very pleased to see continuous efforts across our organization in strengthening Operational Discipline by applying “Assessing Risks and Verifying Safeguards” in their daily work activities. Together as one team, I am confident that we can achieve injury and incident-free workplace where everyone can go home safely every day.
As we are moving into the last four months of this year, there are several focus areas under Reliability and Efficiency programs that I would like to draw your attention to, i.e. efficient execution of all remaining major planned shutdown; effective execution of ITPM, well surveillance and wellhead maintenance programs; RCA action items close-out for wellhead platform and remote compressors prior to the monsoon season. Efficient execution of these key program activities will help us achieve our business plan production targets.
Until next month.
