Simple & powerful. But a drain on the battery
by desert goat
I've been using this app and device since it's initial launch. It is a simple data consolidation device to help you become more aware of hard accelerations, stops and speeding habits. The device makes a noticeable sound but not distracting so that you remain aware of bad driving habits. Also if you're a data hoarder than this is great for checking your mileage, route paths and time you spend driving. It also has a nicety check engine detector which is handy.
The only drawback of this app is the drain it puts on your battery. The location service is always on, "to help with finding your parked car" but this seems pointless unless I'm actively using the device. Hopefully in the future the location preference will include that option as many other apps have. Just to give you an idea I had my iPhone fully charged and on standby and within a couple of hours my batter was already at 50%.
Once that gets fixed I'll up my rating.

Automatic does what it is supposed to. My complaints are:
1. The speed limit in the west is >70 mph in many places, yet the device nags you and dings your score. I'm not speeding. Seems like one should be dinged if speeding.
2. I am not sure how the hard braking and hard acceleration are determined. Automatic seems very sensitive because it beeps at me for hard frequently. My car is 8 years old and still has the original brakes. Doesn't seem like I chronically brake hard. Same with the hard acceleration: I will slow in the left turn lane, let off the brake and give it a bit of gas and get the hard acceleration beep. I turned into my neighborhood and am going 20 mph, max. That's really mashing on the throttle!
On the positive side, it seems to give good mpg info.
Overall, it's fine. Just awfully picky. I'm not driving below the speed limit creating a hazard on the road because some heavily bearded vegan has decided that no one should exceed 70mph.

I love this app, but lately it is having problems connecting to my car. I went up to LA last night and the blurt
Pity sign showed it was connected but when I got back home, I was so excited to see how much it was and how I drove overall. And guess what? Nothing like it did not even happen. Very frustrated about this. Also I have to
