This article initially provides a framework for modeling the information-seeking behavior of producers in the agricultural sector and thereafter, presents the results of a survey involving the producers of olive and olive oil. From this point forward the term "producer" will be employed interchangeably with the term "agricultural producer, while the term referring to olive and olive oil producers will be indicated accordingly. The information-seeking behavior model employed in the survey is informed by the Wilson's theoretical approaches which are discussed and adapted appropriately (Wilson, 1981, 1999, 2006). This concerns the information needs of the producers, preferences for employing specific information resources, and the obstacles they encounter when seeking information. To this end, this article is structured as follows. The next section provides a selected literature review and the theoretical model employed. This is followed by a section providing an empirical survey for olive and olive oil producers, with analysis and results discussed in the penultimate section. The article concludes in the final section with conclusions and issues for further research
