Post Adjusting Entries
The second activity in the general ledger system is posting various adjusting entries (circle 2.0 in Figure 14-2). These adjusting entries originate from the controller’s office, after the initial trial balance has been prepared. The trial balance is a report that lists the balances for all general ledger accounts. Its name reflects the fact that if all activities have been properly recorded, the total of all debit balances in various accounts should equal the total of all credit balances.
