Mean data for yield, fibre quality, and yield components foreach generation and population are presented in Table 2. Meanand range are presented for SPS data, whereas in the progeny rowand replicated experiments, mean and significance for variabilityare shown. Across generations, there was consistency in the pop-ulation rankings for fibre length, strength, and FPS. FPS and FDhad highly significant variation within populations in all generations. Population 67202 had the lowest FD but highest strengthin all generations. Within the SPS generation, there was consid-erable variation for most traits, up to 70% for FD and 24% forstrength within an individual population. The progeny row gen-eration had significant variation across all traits and populations, however following selection in the replicated experiment, 67201had no diversity for short fibre index (SFI) and 67202 and 67203had no differences for yield.
