Education counseling, therefore, is really the program-planning process applied to an individual. It involves the same steps: 1) establishing a climate conducive to self-analysis and self-direction; 2) assessing the needs and interests of individuals for further leaning in the light of their models of what they want to become; 3) helping them formulate step-by-step learning objectives; 4) helping them identify the resources available to them and map out a sequence of learning experiences; and 5) helping them continuously to evaluate their progress toward their objectives and to repeat this cycle.
