The 1991 Beers criteria specified medication classes that should be avoided based on dose, frequency, and duration. Later, the criteria were developed in 1997. It expanded topics about disease and contained of medication classes that should be avoided based on disease-independent and diseasedependent. After that, in 2003 it consisted of 48 medication classes considered inappropriate, irrespective of diagnosis, as well as medication classes considered inappropriate in 20 conditions12.
