This study was conducted to verify the feasibility of replacing natural sand with artificial sand (vermiculite) as a culture substrate of sand worm, Perinereis nuntia, at the Pichitphol Farm, Bang Phra District, Amphur Sri Racha, Chon Buri Province. The experimental animals were 3-day-old larval stage (nectochaete) of sand worm. The experimental unit was made of a rectangular plastic container of 33.5×52×28.3 cm and bottom area of 1742 cm2. The 3 treatments with one replicate were the following: (1) natural sand as substrate with initial stocking density of 6000 nectochaete per experimental unit; (2) natural sand as substrate with initial stocking density of 3000 nectochaete per experimental unit; (3) artificial sand as substrate with initial stocking density of 3000 nectochaete per experimental unit.
