Since the sugars may occur in both supernatant and pelletand cause complexities, the water absorption of starch pastes wasmeasured volumetrically.
The prepared starch pastes (10 ml) wereplaced in graduated centrifuge tubes and centrifuged at 3500g for10 min.
After centrifugation the supernatant was removed and thevolume of remnant was determined.
