The American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors/Laboratory Accreditation Board (ASCLD/LAB) awards Qualtrax, Inc. as the solution provider for a large-scale process automation project. The solution will enable ASCLD/LAB to automate the accreditation process for its staff and 400+ laboratories that rely on ASCLD/LAB for accreditation.
Key benefits of the Qualtrax hosted solution include central, secure storage for all assessment documentation and records for ASCLD/LAB staff, including a large volunteer staff of auditors from labs across the world.
Qualtrax will utilize its robust workflow capability to link ASCLD/LAB auditors and staff to its crime lab customers and keep all parties apprised of where they are in the accreditation process. ASCLD/LAB customers will access a dashboard that quickly shows where they are throughout the lifetime of their accreditation, from each annual Surveillance Audit to Full Accreditation every five years. It will enable important conformance files to be compiled and appropriate documentation linked to ASCLD/LAB standards. Automatic alerts will be sent to all parties as they go through accreditation informing them of needed action.
The efficiencies gained by ASCLD/LAB will enable the organization to better handle its growing caseload and process applications quickly. ASCLD/LAB-accredited labs will benefit with reduced administrative burden when preparing for audits.
This provides an online interface to the Full and Surveillance Audit processes throughout the lifetime of a Lab’s relationship with ASCLD/LAB. Via this portal and the underlying Qualtrax workflow, labs submit necessary documentation, complete electronic forms, and process each tasks at each stage. It provides a common interface for ASCLD/LAB and labs to communicate and complete pre-audit, onsite, and post-audit tasks. Creation of Conformance Files and submission of relevant policies, procedures, and records becomes streamlined and automated, saving time and overhead for labs
Lab customers tell Qualtrax it's very tedious to generate the conformance file, hyperlink it to all supporting documentation (the policies, procedures, and records), and provide it all to ASCLD/LAB staff prior to onsite audits. By automating as much as possible and providing an online portal for submission, the workflow now connects all tasks throughout the audit, ensuring ASCLD/LAB and the labs are notified of their responsibilities at each step of the way. This enables ASCLD/LAB to be more efficient in serving their 400 customers by automating training record management of their hundreds of quality assurance volunteer staff.
“We are thrilled to partner with ASCLD/LAB. Our goal is to enable the organizations we work with to focus on what they do best. This solution will support ASCLD/LAB’s objective to improve the quality of laboratory services provided to the criminal justice system by streamlining the accreditation process,” comments Amy Ankrum, Director, Qualtrax, Inc.
ASCLD/LAB will begin realizing the benefits of Qualtrax immediately as it implements the core solution for internal use this year. ASCLD/LAB accredited labs will begin to access the new automated solution by mid-2014.
