Case study
A Luxury and Fashion industry client successfully undertook and completed a project to review approaches to solving planning problems.
The intervention areas were characterized according to the time of the year:
• Pre-season demand for forecasting management, control of production areas, “blind launches”, collaboration, supply agreements and review of logistics networks;
In-season planning and control of assortments, production and supply control.
The point of contact between these demands and the facilities aimed at satisfying them, is effectively achieved through exploring production areas capacity (owned or not) and fulfillment of the critical materials procurement policies.
The long-term vision allows modification of the structure with the aim of maximizing responsiveness to actual market demand, occurring during the “In Season” time period.
Order intake comes together with availability of materials, internal and external production capacity, logistics, quality control and product engineering and synchronizing business functions related to the pursuit of the goal of on-time delivery to retail stores.
Collecting real-time data (actual sales, production progress) allows the competitive system to effectively realign itself while not deviating from the intended results. External production flow control laboratories chain eliminates stock returns for semi-finished products thanks to relocation of quality control activities and the inclusion of inter-laboratories direct flow.
