The story is divided into 13 parts or kan in Thai. Each part bears a name giving hit to the episodes of the story. The favorite parts to be recited during the Mahachat Festival are the Matsi Kan, telling of the story of the Princess Consort, Matsi, whose two royal children were given away in her absence, and the Kuman Kan, giving the accounts of the young royals who had to endure hardship traveling with a stranger who dragged them away from their parents.
