The flowersof Viola tricolor werecollectedbetweenSeptember
to November2009,atGaurama,insouthBrazil.Avoucherspeci-
men numberSMBD12.958wasdepositedattheherbariumofthe
BotanyDepartment,FederalUniversityofSantaMaria.The flowers
weredriedinstove(temperaturebelow40 1C) andchoppedin
a knifemill.Thechopped flowersweremaceratedataroom
temperaturewithethanol(70%)duringaweek,withdailyshake-
up. After filtration, thehydroalcoholicextractwasevaporated
under reducedpressureinarotaryevaporatortoremovethe
ethanol. Theaqueousextractwasdriedinstove(temperature
below 40 1C) gettingthecrudeextract.
