Notable differences in grain appearance were
observed between Tainung 67 and SA419 (Fig. 1).
The de-hulled grains of Tainung 67 (Fig. 1A) were
slightly shorter than that of SA419 (Fig. 1B). Iodinestained
cross-sections of ripened grains revealed significant
differences between Tainung 67 and SA419.
The blue staining of Tainung 67 grains confirmed
that they had normal levels of amylose (Fig. 1C).
The SA419 grains that stained red were likely to
have severely reduced amylose content (Fig. 1D).
