2. Dawn of the Deep Web.
With a few simple clicks someone can gather enough information on someone to open financial and credit accounts to use for illicit purchases or sell off for others to do with as they please. This leads into the dark aspects of the internet otherwise known as the deep web. While 95% of people only really use the top layer of the internet, there is a far greater, far more unethical portion of the internet. The deep web is home to such things as illegal drug sales, human trafficking, money laundering, and even worse human atrocities.
This darker realm of the internet has streamlined many of these illegal activities and even made the capture and prosecution of these individuals almost impossible. On top of all of this many government entities have started using various internet based technology to gather massive amounts of information and data on people ranging from other foreign dignitaries to whole swaths of their own population.
