Melissa Nordstrom ~ K-8 Faculty Curriculum Leader for
Wellness: Health and Physical Education
Introduction
Wellness encompasses physical education and health education for all our students. Our curriculum emphasizes two major strands of the Massachusetts State Frameworks for Comprehensive Health: Physical Health and Safety & Prevention. Our program teaches students fundamental health concepts and skills that foster healthy habits and promote wellness. In the early grades, students begin working on fundamental knowledge and skills which are reinforced and expanded in later grades. We are committed to the core principles articulated in the state frameworks. In particular, our wellness program of physical education and health education classes supports students in both school performance and healthy living outside of school
