Analysis of the staffing patterns showed that physical
therapists were employed to care for patients with
burns in almost all (91%) of the facilities in the study,
and occupational therapists in slightly fewer facilities
(85%) (Tab. 1). Respondents from 13 (38%) of the
facilities reported that physiatrists were involved in
burn care at their facility. At two (15%) of these
facilities the physiatrists saw the patients with burns
on a routine basis, whereas at 11 (85%) of these
facilities, physiatrists saw burn patients only by requests
for special consultation.
