In terms of “human destiny,” in Vajrayana, one can also practice “death yoga,” which means spiritual practice in preparation for death (compare this to preparations for death in Pure Land Buddhism, for example, where one focuses on Amitabha and Sukhavati).
Magical rituals for someone’s rebirth can also be performed after they have died. In the Tibetan tradition, it is believed that the soul remains in a kind of limbo (not yet reborn) for 49 days after death.
So we can help that soul to gain a better rebirth if we perform death yoga prayers for it during that time.
