This series of Turkish prayer rugs is part of a significantly larger collection, not currently on display, of Turkish and Caucasian prayer rugs.
We apologize for the quality of some of the images as the rugs were photographed in situ at Jim Dixon’s Occidental home.
Jim has provided us with some brief descriptions to accompany each piece. A more general essay on prayer rugs originally written for
Ralph Kaffel’s historically rich and comprehensive volume, Caucasian Prayer Rugs (London, 1998) pp. 156-61 should be consulted
for further discussion.
