Marquis Reagent color test
Subsequent to the broken cells and tissues of true laurel callus was tested by Marquis
Reagent, the color of callus from all treatments turned into dark violet whether it was white or
greenish compact callus (Figure 4). These outcomes specified that induced callus of true laurel
had its ability to produce safrole. Hence, callus initiation could obviously play a key role in rising
cells and tissues that has the potential on safrole production. However, color test via Marquis
Reagent was just a qualitative analysis. Though it was quick and accurate method to detect this
phytochemical, quantitative assay should be done to identify which combination of NAA and BA
is the suitable condition for safrole production from true laurel.
