Responsible for setting goals, market visits, analyze open-to-buy, track sales/analyze performance and review/make recommendations to buyer, makes both long and short term decisions concerning growth of department, and responsible for direct vendor management including independently negotiating
• Assemble and procure appropriate merchandise assortments to achieve departmental sales plan
• Analyze sales trends, project merchandise requirements for assigned departments and plan purchases and delivery schedules to maintain timely and constant flow of merchandise
• Accountable for gross margin performance, sales, markdowns and inventory levels/turn against approved plans
• Communicate with the stores organization and merchandise planners regarding store inventories
• Track shipments, deliveries and transfers
• Coordinate the absorption of excess, irregular and return merchandise
• Enter purchase orders
• Reconcile receipts and on order
• Input markdown data accurately and on a timely basis
• Coordinate the product placement of promotional strategies as approved by the GMM, DMM, Buyer, Advertising and Marketing to ensure maximum productivity
• Communicate product knowledge to stores
