1. Overview of contents
The first article reviews the structure of impulsivity and current
issues in theory development. Gullo, Loxton, and Dawe note the remarkable
consistency with which two dimensions of impulsivity have
emerged across neurophysiological, behavioral, and trait-based studies.
They caution against over-reliance on factor analysis, instead emphasizing
the need for biological grounding, cross-disciplinary integration, and
a drive for parsimony to move the field forward. In particular, they call
for future studies to analyze data from multiple impulsivity measures
simultaneously in order to better understand their unique mechanisms
of action in addiction.
