The experts feel good that they are needed. However, if the benefits are to be sustainable then the team must solve problems on their own. This will free the central resource to move to next task, building on what has been learned from this one. In some ways I suppose it's the same as letting go of teenage children. My two have grown up. I am not quite sure when it happened I used to make all the decisions for them, but now they havc minds of their own. My son drives the family car late at night and we worry till he is back. My daughter goes out clubbing and catches a taxi back in the early hours. Will she be safe? We have shared our values and behaviours with our children for several years. They have watched what we do as much as what we say. We have instilled in them a capability to survive. Now they must take their own decisions. And we must learn to let go.
