ramie have already been reported as reinforcements for soy
based matrices [13–15]. Improvements of the physical
properties of these composites via surface treatments and
fiber loading have been examined [13,14]. Although both
soy plastics and natural fibers have polar groups such as
hydroxyl and carboxyl groups that can have some physical
interactions during processing, these physical interaction
are limited and typically do not lead to significant
improvements in performance.
