Rural Life
•8% of the population lives in rural areas, making their home either in the kibbutz or moshav, forms of agricultural settlement.
•The rural space in Israel covers about 90% of the country’s land area, of which contains nearly 1000 villages.
•About 80% of existing villages were established as farming communities within a national settlement program, which was initiated in the beginning of the 20th century and implemented as a joint project of the Land Settlement Department and groups of the settlers themselves.
