Looking at the pictures provided by Underwriters, it does appear that the contents were not adequately stowed of which should have been properly braced, blocked and secured/lashed to prevent them from shifting throughout the entire ocean voyage.
We have instructed surveyor to pay attention to and comment on the adequacy of the stowage, loss mitigation, to collate all relevant information and documents (including ORIGINALs), etc.
Speaking of survey, we would appreciate that our full contact details could be printed on the main page of QBE Thailand’s policy for all future US-bound and Latin America shipments (please do not hesitate to contact us for London and Singapore offices’ full contact details) so as to avoid any delays in arranging surveys. If our full contact details are printed on the front page of the policy, Underwriters’ interest/rights will invariably be preserved/protected irrespective of the time differences (as we have offices on the east and west coasts; 3 hours apart) and/or types of perils. This is particularly imperative when dealing with ocean carriers, freight forwarders and inland truckers, etc. (this is one of the crucial areas in which most assureds/claimants/exporters/importers usually do not show much interest).
