The two components were added
into the cell so that both equilibrium phases were produced in
amounts sufficient for analysis. To achieve the equilibrium, the
contents of the cell were magnetically stirred for 48 h. The composition
of the phase with higher content of IL was determined gravimetrically
by weighing the sample before and after total
evaporation of methyl acetate in a rotary evaporator. The phase
with lower IL content was assayed by UV spectrometry using a
Varian spectrometer Model Cary Bio 50.
