More fundamentally, individual health can be improved
over the life course through health education
and information provided to the general population,
especially to low income groups, through official
media or community health workers [37]. Healthy
lifestyles – notably not smoking nor drinking and adequate
physical activities – are important. Our results
indicate older persons’ health beliefs that good health
can be maintained better through healthier behaviours
and preventative physical examinations as well as
more medical consultations in the community relative
to inpatient care.
