Further comparison of these breast milk pyrethroid concentrations can be obtained by comparison to the maximum residue levels (MRLs) after unit transformation in mg/kg of milk (FAO and WHO, 2005). These MRLs are proposed for food commodities or animal feeds. As shown in Table 4, the median concentrations of the six pyrethroids found in milk samples above limit of detection correspond to concentrations that are about six times lower than MRL values at the most. The mothers exhibiting highest concentrations also have values below these MRL reference levels.
