introduction
infectious diseases are one of the most important problem found in thailand. most of diseases are usually caused by bacteria. for many years , antibiotics have been used to treat bacterial infection, however, many strains of bacteria are developing resistant to antibiotic agents [sawanson, 2003]. therefore, it is important to find new anti-bacterial activities from natural sources that are effective for treatment of pathogenic bacteria. c. fenestratum is a troditional medicine of the northeastern part of thailand, which is recently very popularly used. its stem is claimed for balancing blood pressure, being a detoxifying and antidiodetic agent and for treatment of hypercholesterolemia [rojsanga et al 2005]. therefore, the aims of this study was to investigate effects of crude and Fractions of c. fenestratum on growth of bacterial pathogen in order to develop on antimicrobial product that can be used for prevention of bacterial infection in the future.
