The coup announcement caused a bit of a traffic panic, but by Friday a strange quiet was obvious. Whistles and blocking intersections was suddenly out of fashion. "I admit I'm addieted to the mob",a nice lady told us a couple of weeks ago,and on Friday she sent us a Line message showing a sad avatar. Commentators figured that the coup gave Suthep Thaugsuban a face-saving out to end his streetcrusade. The People's Democratic Reform Committee rrallies stopped achicving anything several months ago,but still they went on. The sudden end of all rallies is speech,no doubt. But the freedom of not being blasted by hundreds of whistles is somewhat important.
