Child labour is prohibited. The minimum age for regular employment is 15 years of age. There are special considerations for workers under 18 years of age.
Indonesia has ratified the two core ILO conventions addressing child labour: Minimum Age Convention No. 138 of 1973 (C138) and Worst Forms of Child Labour Convention No. 182 of 1999 (C182).
Note: This Indonesian Labour Law Guide is designed specifically for the garment industry. Children under 18 years of age are prohibited from performing much of the work done in garment factories because it is considered hazardous, as set forth in the following sections of this Guide
