Self Control. The Self-Control Scale(SCS) of Kendall and Wilcox(1979), which was modified and translated into Korean by Song(1998), was used. The inventory originally consisted of 33 items, but it was abridged to 21 items in a previous study on Korean college students(Song, 1998). The SCS consists of items conceptualizing cognition. and behavior for the self-control and capacity to demonstrate desirable behaviors while suppressing undesirable behaviors(Kendall& Wilcox, 1979) The instrument is rated on a 5-point to 5 Likert scale ranging from 1(never) to 5 (greatly) with a possible total score between 21 and 105. High scores indicate high self control. The internal consistency reliability was 0.82 in Song's study(1998) and 0.79 in the current study
