Many studies have shown that clean rooms are one of our guest’s most important concerns.
Having a clean room regularly ranks higher than all other attributes including food and beverage
outlet options, comfortable beds, guest amenities and communication options such as Wi-Fi
Internet. Above everything else, the guest wants a clean room.
It is estimated that guests form impressions in seconds and these impressions last. In the first
few minutes after the guest has entered their room they will have evaluated the room based on
their personal standards. Is the bathroom clean, is the bed and bathroom linen clean and in
good condition, are the tables and lamps dusted and what amenities are offered? What do
you think will happen if the guest enters their room and finds a poorly made bed, perhaps a
stained compendium or lights not working?
The Housekeeping Department's mission is to provide clean, comfortable guest rooms in a
manner which will promote guest loyalty. You make sure each guest enters a room that is clean
and complete with all the amenities offered.
The housekeeping department not only prepares clean guest rooms on a timely basis for
arriving guests, it also cleans and maintains everything in the Hotel. This includes all Public
Areas such as the Lobby, Restaurants, Lifts and Conference areas as well as employee areas
such as the staff canteen, change rooms and bathrooms.
