Product design and quality planning is followed by the acquisition of necessary resources, including academic and support staff, informationandmaterialresources(hardware,software, equipment and facilities), as well as students. The objective of the purchasing requirement of ISO 9001 is to ensure that these resources conform to the specified requirements. This is necessary because the university builds the acquired resources into its products. For example, only the students who meet entrance standards should be allowed to enroll. Defective purchased material, such as a faulty overhead projector or inappropriate software loaded on the network, may negatively affect the quality of the teaching, learning or research processes.
