Obviously, finding better and more accurate ways to control the
release of drugs is a key target in pharmaceutical science. There has
been a great interest in developing controlled release formulations
to maintain a desired drug concentration level for long periods of
time without reaching a drug concentration above which the drug
produces undesirable side effects and below which the drug is not
therapeutically effective. Well-designed film coatings can provide
a reduction in the dosage regimen as well as minimize the dose
dumping effect.
