2. Evaluation of air quality
The air quality being evaluated in this report is only the
distribution of pollutants released by people, e.g., CO , 2
odor, tobacco smoke. 4 Pollutants, which are supplied by
the air-conditioning system, e.g., defective filters, or are
released by the carpets or furniture, e.g., solvents, formaldehyde, spread out differently in a space, so the distribution
of these pollutants cannot be evaluated by using the
results presented here.
For simulating the pollutants released from people,
measurements with the tracer gas Dinitrogenoxide N O Ž . 2
were made under steady-state conditions.
The relative air quality in space in steady-state conditions,
can be characterized by the contaminant removal
efficiency, m , 5 which represents the ratio between the x
concentration, e.g., of a tracer gas or particles, at one
particular point and the concentration in the exhaust air. It
