Humidity relates to the water contained into a fluid. Water might come from interactions with external parameters i.e. humid air or water leaks or from chemical combinations. From an industrial point of view, monitoring water mainly allows to:
- Determine the absolute water amount that the fluid contains. This analysis mainly finds applications in laboratories for QAQC purposes, with fluids specified "dry" when delivered to final customers.
- Evaluate how close is the fluid from water saturation (when dissolved water condensates into droplets). Considering that reaching saturation might cause irremediable damage to lubricated installations, most of applications aim to monitor industrial engines & turbines.
