All foodstuff isolates were further characterized at the National
Reference Laboratory for Coagulase Positive Staphylococci Including
S. aureus (NRL-Staph) at the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment
(BfR), Berlin.
Detection of SEs was conducted by use of VIDAS SET 2 kit
(bioMérieux, Nuertingen, Germany) according to the manufacturer's
instructions. Food samples from the different types of ice-cream were
measured in duplicate
