Therefore, for this problem, the researcher wanted to study environmentally friendly plastic packaging or it can replace plastic that comes from petroleum. It is biodegradable and also comes from natural sources. The polymer that the researcher is interested(สนใจ) in is poly(lactic acid) or PLA. Which, the advantages of PLA are that it is hard, clear, and can degrade by 180 days. However, some applications are not suitable(ไม่เหมาะสม) for sunlight. Which, PLA/Lignin is an alternative way(ทางเลือก) because lignin can changes the color of the polymer from clear to light blocking. Lignin can be extracted by many methods. The researcher sees the possibility of turning the by-product into a new product with more value and efficiency. The by-product used is black liquor, which is a waste product from the paper production process. But the mechanical properties and hydrophobic properties of the composite will be reduced. In this research, the researcher must be improve the quality of PLA/Lignin for use in plastic packaging by using Alkylketene dimer (AKD) When lignin is modified with AKD, the results in improved mechanical properties and better PLA/Lignin compatibility.
