In this study, the only aspect of chemosensation in which there are similarities
between women and a CI group is chemosomatosensory detection thresholds.
Results from Study 1 suggest that CI individuals have an attention bias to chemosensory
exposures, i.e. have difficulties ignoring them. The current results rather
indicate that women are remarkably good at modulating their responses based on
the task-related relevance of the stimuli. Neither were any differences in sensitization
found between women and men similar in age and level of CI.
