Management style, like society, generally varies from U.S. and European organizations to Far
Eastern organizations. If we simplify styles, Western management style may be described as
open, direct, and confrontational, stressing short-term profitability. Eastern management style
stresses seniority, relationships, and family ties, stressing long-term profitability and employment.
As globalization progresses and financial challenges arise, differences may shrink–-
perhaps taking the best of both styles and merging them into one, but more likely taking the
features of both styles that improve the opportunity for economic survival.
