Two putative cues to female physical attractiveness are body mass index (BMI) and shape (particularly the waist-hip ratio or WHR). This article examines definitions of social media, as well as positive and negative impacts in various social contexts. The literature review is focused on analysis of social uprisings and advocacy groups. The research is limited to advocacy groups and an analysis of quantitative and qualitative data related to group members' use of social media. All of this can be helpful to my own research, although I will have to note possible differences in the spheres of political advocacy as opposed to institutional education.
