4. Results
The deep green areas in figure 1 represent the most suitable areas for wild animal damages (normalized values
equal to 137). About 53,000 hectares of vineyards and crops were examined (Figure 2). Almost half of them are
characterized by a low degree of susceptibility to damage (values below 22): about 33% of the total has a
normalized value equal to 7 (17,750 hectares); 25% has normalized value equal to 14 (13,340 hectares) and 15% of
the total areas examined have a normalized value equal to 22 (they cover about 8.000 hectares). It is important to
underline that more suitable areas for wild animal damages (areas with normalized value over 70), cover about 1,260 hectares: this small territory is 3% of the total areas. The average normalized value of susceptibility is equal to
20.45 and its standard deviation is 16.7.
