UNDP in Thailand has maintained mutually beneficial relationships with many line ministries of the Royal Thai Government--on thematic issues from inclusive and democratic governance, climate change, women's empowerment and more. UNDP Thailand has led national conversations on women's political empowerment and gender equality in Thailand is nearly 90 percent.
UNDP has made productive in-roads with provincial governments as well--working most recently in the rural Thai province of Mae Hong Son, where an innovative approach to community security and social cohesion was used to improve relationships between local populations and the provincial government. UNDP is also working in Mae Hong Son--the poorest province in Thailand--to make it the first to become energy sufficient.
Other accomplishments include working ever closer to the development of a climate change fiscal framework for Thailand. UNDP has also been working at all levels of government on ambitious Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) efforts to improve human security and reduce social and economic inequality through technical and policy advice to produce high-quality, reliable data and comprehensive analysis.
