Based on the recognition the intrinsic characteristic of lignocellulosic
biomass, the selective-fractionation technology using
steam explosion pretreatment as the core technology has been
established within the integrated industrial technologies [62–64].
The selective-fractionation technology was developed to retain the
original features of macromolecules, activate and improve the
biotransformation performance of components suitable for enzymatic
hydrolysis, and maximize the value of intermediate products
[65,66]. The wide application of this technology will improve
commercialization of lignocellulosic bioethanol.
